Early detection of breast cancer has been the most important subject for the management of breast cancer and ultrasound has been expected as the screening tool together with remarkable improvement on ultrasonic diagnostic equipments. We have tried the ultrasonic screening of breast cancer since 1975, and this time, applied the full-automatic water path mechanical compound scanner (System 1, Ausonics Co.). We have succeeded the screening of breast cancer by applying the newly developed sequential rapid viewing display technique which was performed by using magnetic disk recorder. This technique was effective for rapid interpretation of a great deal of echograms and for recognizing the characteristic feature of pathological breast tumor images.
