キーワード : Operative ultrasound, Brain tumor
Operative ultrasound was employed during an operation of a brain tumor, and revealed that it was useful for the accurate localization of the non-palpable subcortical tumor prior to the procedure, for the guidance of a needle into the tumor, and for the confirmation following the tumor extirpation. The use of ultrasonography has a favorable impact during brain tumor surgery in three ways: providing assistance in exposure, access and resection of brain tumors.
