Abnormal blood flow in congenital compound malformations (hypoplastic LV syndrome (2 cases), single ventricle (3 cases), TAPVC (3 cases), Co/Ao (3 cases), DORV (2 cases), TA (2 cases), cortriatriatum (1 case), ECD (7 cases), T/F (6 cases), Ebstein's anomaly (3 cases), and VSD, ASD, or both with another stenosis or regurgitation (9 cases)) were diagnosed their using 2D-Doppler color flow mapping. The accuracy of the detection of shunt, regurgitation, and stenosis is excellent when these disorders exist as compound entities. In the present study, 2D-Doppler echocardiography with color flow mapping proved its worth as a diagnostic tool in the evaluation of compound congenital heart diseases in infants. This method, however, has so-far failed to demonstrate flow through the ductus in some patients when patent ductus arteriosus was present with other anomalies.
