　Echocardiographic features in 10 patients with pheochromocytoma (Ph) were studied and compared with those of 56 patients with essential hypertension (EHT). Out of 10 patients with Ph, left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), left ventricular dilatation and hyperkinetic left ventricular contraction were observed in 6 (60%), 1 (10%) and 5 (50%), respectively. Asymmetric septal hypertrophy were observed in 2 patients of 6 patients with LVH. Compared with the patients with EHT, percent fractional shortening and interventricular septum/posterior wall thickness ratio were increased but these findings were decreased by removal of pheochromocytoma. These results suggested that LVH in Ph were caused not only by blood pressure but also by cathecolamine.
