　We infected the rats with Echinococcus multilocularis experimentally and studied their livers with ultrasonography.
　We have encountered a group of patients with hepatic echinococcal lesions and their ultrasonographic appearance is analyzed. Seven patients in late stage are divided into 2 types of ultrasonographic image, which are large echo free area with thickened wall (type A) and echogenic area with irregular margin (type B).
　The ultrasonographic appearance of the patients in early stage are also described.
