Four cases of fetal cystic hygroma colli have been diagnosed by ultrasonography. Fetal cystic hygroma colli is congenital malformation of the lymphatic system and the ultrasonographic finding is the asynmetrical longitudinal multicystic pattern of the head and neck region. The mean gestational age at diagnosis has been 19.5 weeks (ranging 16.6 to 22.1 weeks). All cases have resulted in intrauterine fetal death between zero to 10 days after establishment of diagnosis. Paticulary in cases combining with coarctation of aorta and hydrops fetalis (generalized edema), the fetal prognosis is very pessimistic. Ultrasonography is very useful and effective for antenatal diagnosis of fetal cystic hygroma colli in the second trimester of pregnancy.
