An application of a transducer in 7.5 MHz to transrectal sonography (TRS) was evaluated in 300 subjects in our department from May, 1987. The picture quality of the sonograms using the transducer in 7.5 MHz was compared with that using 5 MHz in 29 subjects. An obvious improvement of the quality was observed in the former. There is a possibility that TRS equipped with the transducer in 7.5 MHz will be adopted widely instead of that in lower frequency in the near future.
