キーワード : Thyroid echo level, Thyroid histogram pattern
For an aid in ultrasound differential diagnosis in thyroid diseases, we conducted a preliminary diagnosis of the echo level and histogram from 37 thyroid lesions. The echo level in each thyroid disease was 117 and 122 for Basedow's; 118 and 100 for struma simplex; 102±10.5 for Hashimoto's; 77.3±8.6 for cancer; 63.4±4.9 for adenoma and 50.0±16.9 for cyst, whilist 109±6.8 in normal thyroid.
The histograms were tentatively categorized into 6 patterns, Type I through VI, each one of which could be matched to one thyroid disease, i.e., I (Bell) to normal thyroid; II (Bell shifted to a lower echo level) to cancer; III (Bell with a wide base) to Basedow's; IV (Bell with a narrow base) to Hashimoto's; V (Bended-cantilever) to cyst and VI (Diversiform) to adenoma.
