The biliary ascariasis with liver abscess was diagnosed by ultrasonographic procedure. And the worm was successfully removed by using basket catheter.
The liver abscess was disappeared after removing the worm.
As for ultrasonographic configuration of ascaris lumbricoides we got three aspects. That was followed. In the longitudinal scanning, it showed hyperechoic parallel stripes on the vertical sonobeam and hyperechoic string on the non-vertical sonobeam. In the horizontal scanning, it showed annular hyperechoic configuration (bull's eye appearance).
In addition to conventional diagnostic methods as DIC, ERC or PTC, the ultrasonography was so much effective method for diagnosis of the biliary ascariasis.
