The 61-year-old man was admitted due to hypertension and articulation disorders. The solitary cyst was detected in the left hepatic lobe by abdominal ultrasonography. This round shaped cyst (18 × 28 mm) had smooth surface containing a isoechoic mass. Histological examination of the resected specimen revieled that the wall of the cyst was covered by the ciliated epithelium of one layer and partially pseud-stratified columnar epithelium. The fluid in the cyst detected as a mass by Ultrasonography was the mucinous material with degenerative epithelial cells and histiocytes.
These findings suggested that the cyst might be originated form the respiratory epithelium and pathological diagnosis was a ectopic bronchogenic cyst in the liver.
