A case of hyperechoic multiple small nodules of the liver in alcoholic was reported. A 41-year
old alcoholic male was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of general malaise. Laboratory
data revealed mild abnormality of serum γ-GTP level and ICG test.
On admission, ultrasonography showed hepatic hyperechoic multiple small nodules of 1∼
1.5 cm in diameter which was penetrated by hepatic vein. Ultrasound-guided fine needle (21G)
aspiration biopsy of this lesion was performed and histological study showed the fatty change in
this lesion of the liver.
After 5 weeks of admission, hepatic hyperechoic lesion was almost disappeared.
Severe perivenular and pericellular fibrosis of the liver was confirmed by silver impregnation.
Thus, focal ischemia caused by severe hepatic fibrosis might be concerned for the development
of hepatic focal fatty change.
