We report on sonograms of two cases with Wilson's disease. Case 1 was a 19-year-old man. Sonography revealed not only several features suggestive of liver cirrhosis but also multiple high echo spots throughout the whole liver but predominantly along the portal and hepatic vein. A coarse reticulated "scale-like" echotexture was also seen in the liver. Case 2 was a 26-year-old pregnant woman. In addition to cirrhotic findings, multiple high echo spots were observed by ultrasound predominantly in the periphery of the liver. The unusual sonographic findings in these two cases were the presence of multiple high echo spots within the liver. The difference in these distributions seemed to depend on the stage of the disease.
In addition, the diagnostic problem of the splenic infarction mimicking a splenic hemangioma as seen in case 1 and the clinical significance of collaterals in pregnant patients were also discussed.
