Over one year period, 665 patients were examined using transvaginal color Doppler. When color flow was assessed, each velocity was classified into one of two groups. In the normal flow pattern, the diastolic flow component was absent or little and the value of RI was >0.50. In the abnormal flow pattern, the large diastolic flow component was evident and the value of RI was <0.50. The results stress the importance of blood flow visualization within the pelvic mass. By using the transvaginal color Doppler and a pulsed wave Doppler analysis, it is possible to obtain important data which can help clinicians to differentiate benign and malignant tumors, and make proper diagnosis of early pregnancy failures at the earliest possible stage. Because of its high accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, transvaginal color Doppler is the imaging of choice in diagnostic procedure.
