Sonographic findings of two cases with serous cystadenoma of the pancreas were reported and compared with their histological findings. In case 1, sonography disclosed a 30×29 mm well-defined, echogenic mass containing numerous small cystic lesions in the pancreatic body. Because of these characteristic features, the diagnosis could be made by sonography alone. In case 2, however, sonography showed a 17×12 mm well-defined homogenous hypoechoic round mass in the pancreatic body, which strongly implies the presence of a non-functioning islet cell tumor. However, the diagnosis of cystadenoma of the pancreas was made from the histology showing innumerable small cysts by cuboidal epithelial cells varying from 46 to 275 μm within the mass. Although relatively uncommon, the possibility of serous cystadenoma of the pancreas must be kept in mind where a well-defined pancreatic homogenous mass is demonstrated sonographically.
