It is difficult to evaluate the regulatory mechanism of the amniotic fluid volume (AFV). For estimating the AFV, we measure the depth of the amniotic cavity (DAC) by ultrasound. There is a significant correlation between the DAC and the AFV. The relationship of the DAC measured 7 days prior to delivery and the birth weight and fetal distress was investigated in 460 normal term deliveries. The DAC measurements ranged from 13 mm to 109 mm and the mean value was 53.4 mm. 406 (88.2%) measurements ranged from 30 mm to 79 mm. Therefore the subjects were devided into 3 groups: normal (≥30-
