The case of a 48-year old man with an asymptomatic gastroduodenal artery aneurysm which was discovered through pulsed Doppler ultrasonography is presented. On the gray-scale imaging, the cystic mass in visualized at the right side of pancreas head. With color Doppler imaging, the cystic lesion codes red in the inspiratory phase and blue in the expiratory phase. Through a pulsed Doppler ultrasonogram, a pulsating wave is detected in the lesion.
Color flow imaging, by passively superimposing Doppler information on the gray-scale image as a color flow map, facilitated the detection of the asymptomatic vascular lesion. Pulsed Doppler ultrasonography and color flow imaging were extremely useful to diagnose and follow-up study of the gastroduodenal artery aneurysm.
