A 57-years-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of a tumor-like image detected by ultrasonographic screening. An ultrasonographic examination by a 7.5 MHz probe revealed a space-occupying lesion (SOL) in the lateroanterior segment (S 3) of the left hepatic lobe. The laparoscopic finding revealed that the SOL-like image was caused by an anomalous lobulation. Needle biopsy of the anomalous lobulation showed normal liver with slight fat deposition. We experienced a very rare case of an anomalous lobulation of the left hepatic lobe which was confirmed by laparoscopy and histological examination.
