We examined 13 cases of thyroglossal cysts and evaluated their ultrasonographic images.
They varied in shape but were not round as had been claimed in earlier reports. Most of them had thickened walls and a low internal echo. The other important characteristic was adhesion or connection to the hyoid bone to diagnose.
