A subepicardial aneurysm is a rare complication of myocardial infarction. The characteristic pathological features include 1) an abrupt interruption of myocardium, 2) a narrow neck, and 3) a propensity to rupture spontaneously regardless of its wall's components. The diagnosis is paramount because of the propensity of subepicardial aneurysms to rupture.
This report describes two cases of left ventricular subepicardial aneurysm diagnosed with two dimensional echocardiography. The patients successfully underwent resection of the subepicardial aneurysm.
