Left ventricular (LV) ejection flow (EF) and isovolumic relaxation flow (IRF) at LV center were visualized by pulsed Doppler echocardiography (PDE) to determine their characteristics and compare them with changes in ECG in order to estimate degree of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). Conventional echocardiographic examination led to a diagnosis of LVH in 39 patients: 26 had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and 13 had hypertensive heart disease; 15 agematched normal controls were also studied.
