Ultrasonography showed cholelithiasis in seven children younger than 10 years of age. These children had no hemolytic anemia or other risk factors for cholelithiasis. In all cases, follow-up ultrasound examination showed spontaneous resolution of cholelithiasis without treatment. These gallstones were presumed to have been formed by bile inspissation. Serial ultrasound examination is recommended when gallstones are found in children but there are no serious complications caused by cholelithiasis.
