Color Doppler findings from metastatic thyroid cancer of gastric origin have rarely been described. A 68-year-old woman who had a gastrectomy for treatment of gastric cancer 3 years earlier presented a skin rash at the anterior region of the neck. The thyroid gland was slightly enlarged, but no localized lesion was detected by palpation. Hormonal studies confirmed euthyroid function. B-mode ultrasonography failed to show pathological findings other than a diffuse swelling of the gland, while color Doppler studies showed sighifcant increase in blood flow in the entire thyroid gland. A defnitive diagnosis was made by fine needle aspiration biopsy. Our findings warrant attehtion when evaluating the gehehally similar color Doppler images from such functional thyroid diseases as the Basedow's disease or chronic thyroiditis.
