A 19-year-old woman was admitted to this institute with fever, lymphadenopathy, and right hypochondralgia. Atypical lymphocytes made up 17.3% of the total, and the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (IM) was confirmed on the basis of EB virus-specific antibodies. Ultrasonography showed marked thickening of the gallbladder wall, as much as 13 mm, during the acute stage of the disease. Gallbladder wall thickness returned to normal as liver function improved. Marked gallbladder wall thickening is rarely reported in cases of IM.
