A 58-year-old male patient was referred to this institution with a diagnosis of left atrial tumor and cerebral infarction. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) showed a 33×49-mm immobile solid mass with scattered small calcification spots, and transesophageal echocardiography showed a short stalk attached to the superior part of the atrial septum, leading us to suspect that the mass was a myxoma. In spite of its calcification and immobility, the stalk of the interatrial septum was a differential diagnostic clue that was useful in distinguishing this lesion from other neoplasms with calcification. The histopathologic diagnosis of the excised tumor was myxoma with Gamna-Gandy bodies. We conclude that Gamna-Gandy bodies can appear as small calcification spots on echocardiography.
