A 65-year-old man underwent percutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accompanied by severe liver cirrhosis. One week after the first treatment, after examination with dynamic CT, a residual lesion approximately 4 mm in diameter was detected in the left side of the tumor. However, fundamental gray-scale ultrasonography could not detect this residual lesion. We therefore performed additional PEIT under breath-hold enhanced ultrasonography (EU-PEIT) and obtained good control.
