For the sonographic diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders the following assessments of the sonographic features are necessary: 1distribution, 2・ wall thickness, 3・ wall stratification, 4・ echogenicity, 5・ luminal deformity, 6・ compressibility, 7・ peristalsis, 8・ extramural changes, and 9・ blood flow. Advances in technology will allow ultrasonography to become a new diagnostic modality for gastrointestinal disorders in the near future.
