The high resolution ultrasonic equipment for ophthalmic diagnosis was developed on experimental bases and applied to the clinical use. The improvements were made in the transducer with a wide frequency of a middle-sized caliber and a concave tip to achieve high resolution power and to get a compound scan of sector-and linear scanning, an amplification mechanism, and accessories of signal processing circuits such as Near Gain, Sensitivity Time Control, Filters and so on.
As the results of clinical examinations, the resolution power (the sensitivity and the gradations) was proved to be much higher than that of the conventional equipments. The B-mode images of the eye were anatomically faithful and the more accurate diagnosis of various eye lesions were achieved.
