In the case of ventricular septal defect combined with atrial septal defect, in spite of the absence of pulmonary hypertension, right to left ventricular shunt was recognized.
The shunt was demonstrated by cardiac catheterization, dye dilution method and contrast echocardiography. Judging from the right ventricular and left ventricular pressure recorded in cardiac catheterization, the right to left ventricular shunt is considered mainly due to the pressure gradient between right and left ventricle in some phase of isometric relaxation period.
