The author introduces the current topics, mainly from papers in WFUMB Meeting in Miyazaki: With development of sensitive equipments and analytical techniques, the application of diagnostic ultrasound in ophthalmology has become wider. The procedure can provide the axial length required in the insertion of an intraocular lens, and precise location and quality of membrane-like structures before vitreous surgery. Ultrasonic display of figures of the uveal tissue, including the measurement of the thickness of the choroid, and the therapeutic application of ultrasound to retinochoroidal diseases are noteworthy. For intracranial problems, ultrasound is useful in screening procedures and applicable to survey of intracranial blood circulation.
