Despite the fact that ultrasonotomography has progressed and become widespread, there are few reports of cervical pregnancy because of its rare occurrence. In previous reports, the diagnosis of cervical placenta was not even considerd in early stage of pregnancy and the criteria to provide adequate support for such a diagnosis were not available. As the diagnosis of cervical placenta depends largely on histological findings, it may be impossible to make an adequate diagnosis before hysterectomy.
We made an ultrasonotomographic recording and continued to make detailed periodic observations.
We found the characteristic pictures of a cervical placenta during the ear一y and middle stages of pregnancy. As a result, the following information is given.
Information on the bladder :
(1) A straight line of extension at the vesical fundus and shortening of the vesical apex.
(2) The site of the bladder reflection is raised.
Information on the uterus :
(1) Straight extension and enlargement of the cervical canal.
(2) Disappearance of the portio vaginalis and enlargement of the vaginal fornix.
(3) A long-oval shaped GS.
