Seven cases of lymphosarcoma with abdominal involvement were examined by ultrasonography. 1) Varying degree of enlargement of the lymphnodes was noted arround the superior mesenteric vessels and aorta in all cases. 2) The enlargement of the superior mesentenc lymphnodes shows 2 following patterns; a) Markedly enlarged lymphnodes were seen to encase the superior mesenteric vessels, consistent with "Sandwich sign by Muller et al. b) In the cases with a lesser degree of the enlargement, discrete and/or confluent lymphnode enlargement was seen arround the superior mesenteric vessels more prominent in the intestinal side rather than in the mesentenc side. 3) A "Sandwich sign" as noted in 2-a) has been observed in malignant lymphoma. However, the lymphnode enlargement in the form of 2-b) has not been reported in the literature, and this type oflymphnode enlargement may also be suggestive of malignant lymphoma.
