Twelve cases of hydrops fetalis were reviewed to obtain the diagnostic criteria by ultrasonic tomography (UST). Such were skin edema (scalp 12/12/12, UST positive/autopsy positive/whole cases, trunk ll/12/12), effusions (thorax 8/10/12, abdomen 7/7/12), placenta edema 6/12/12, and polyhydramnios 10/10/12, these being common items which may involve the pathological process of the disorder. In addition to these findings, there were marked cardiac enlargement 3 and neck tumor 2. Autopsies revealed the endocardial fibroelastosis 2, preductal coarctation of aorta 1 , and cystic hygroma 2, respectively.
Since hydrops fetalis seems to include multiple factors to develop its clinical features, it is necessary to make feasible documentation of the disorder, which allows to express any given case of hydrops fetalis in order to make the further discussion of the disorder.
