 A handy typed intracorporal electronic linear scanning probe with a frequency of 3.5 MHz, which was developed by us has been applied transrectally to 381 cases including lower urinary tract obstruction with benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder neck contracture and others to establish their urodynamic diagnosis.
 This method offered us real time longitudinal ultrasonotomogram with high grade gray scale display, which allowed us to examine the precise and overall relationship between the prostate and its adjacent organs.
 Furthermore, the voiding echogram obtained during urination with this method made it possible to observe urodynamic changes of the bladder neck and prostatic urethra.
Thus, the voiding echography was found to be useful for observation of the posterior urethra, providing more orecise differential diagnosis of lower urinary tract obstruction.
